The Ottocento Wine Collection

Commemorating 800 years of history with the Ottocento Rosso, Ottocento Bianco, and Ottocento Spumante wine initiative.

The exclusive Ottocento Rosso red wine, produced in collaboration with Praglia Abbey Winery, celebrates the University of Padua’s 800th Anniversary with each of the 10,000 bottles produced. Revealing amber hues in each glass, the wine offers an intense and complex aroma of wild berry, ripened fruit, and cherry. The combined flavours are as soft as they are elegant, encapsulating notes of spice, leather, liquorice, and cinnamon enriched by deep and persistent notes of coffee and chocolate with a slightly bitter finish. Guaranteed to age well, Ottocento Rosso was cultivated by combining grapes of Merlot (2018), Corvina (2016), Pinot Nero (2018), and Carmenere (2018) and stored for two years in oak barrels before being bottled in February of 2020.

Placed alongside is the Ottocento Bianco, a pure Manzoni DOC white wine produced by the historic Cerletti Institute Winery for which the University of Padua shares its Conegliano Wine Campus and the Ottocento Spumante, a sparkling white Prosecco DOCG, supplied by the Consorzio di tutela del Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, for whom the University has long collaborated with.

This initiative confirms the strong relationship that the University enjoys with the local territory.
