The university of the new millennium is increasingly focused on internationalisation, research development, skills specialisation and diversifying the educational offer. Following the guidelines of the Italian Ministry of Education, since 2012 the University of Padua reorganises its general administrative-educational structure by eliminating faculties, entrusting teaching activities to the departments and creating schools to coordinate the activities of the departments within the different study programmes.
The University of Padua counts eight schools. The Piovego area hosts several multi-department facilities, including those for Mathematics, Psychology, the “Cittadella dello Studente” (student accommodation) developed by Studio Valle and inaugurated in 2015, as well as Biology and Biomedicine, entrusted to architect Mario Botta and completed in 2014. At the same time, the Biodiversity Garden is inaugurated as an extension to the Botanic Garden.
In more recent years, too, the University shows its commitment to looking to the future competitively by investing in innovation, culture, education and science. This commitment is put into practice through several acquisitions and projects which in the coming years will define a new chapter in the University’s history.
