Philosophy and Literature. The Origins, Modernity, and the Twentieth Century

A journey through the significant moments of research within social and humanitarian studies conducted in Padua, to highlight their projection at European level and the role played in the construction of European culture. Therefore, the focus will be, on one side, on the relations of the teachers and students of Padua with figures and contexts of the widest European cultural area starting from the 13th century and, on the other, on the importance of the European dimension given to what was produced in Padua within the scope of the humanities. It will start from the early years of the University of Padua which, since then and from the very beginning, has been able to impose itself as driving force of knowledge nourished by methods and innovative perspectives, as well as the transmission of the same thanks also to a rich literary output which facilitated its circulation and translation into cultural contexts different from those of Veneto. The areas explored include philosophical thought, classic and modern philology, the reception of the antique in the artistic environment in the Modern Age, social sciences …..
