Street Art Collection

Unipd presents the limited edition collection signed by street artist Peeta. The new Unipd Peeta collection offers t-shirts and bags designed to celebrate 800 years of University of Padua history and to gaze into the future.

The collection is available at the UNIPD Store in Palazzo Bo and online at www.unipdstore.it

The artistic project

Conveying the spirit of freedom, designing a new Unipd insignia was entrusted to an artist whose free reinterpretation transformed and modified its original form.

Peeta’s evolutionary design gives a visual impact that goes beyond the limits of its surface.  The artist reimagines the University’s distinctive Red of Pompeii colour set against a dark background to accentuate components that expose the composition’s movement and mutability.

The stars found in the original insignia, also seen in Christ the Redeemer and Saint Catherine of Alexandria, now grow larger and intersect one another. The fluid design pays tribute to the astronomical studies of Galileo Galilei while the circular shapes reflect the design of the armillary sphere that represents the science and scientific discoveries that have made the history of the University of Padua.

The artist: Peeta

Born, Born in the province of Padua, Peeta made himself known in the early 90s in the Italian literary scene, today Peets works as a multidisciplinary artist active in the fields of painting, sculpture and muralism.
Peeta previously collaborated with the University for the Unipd Super Walls 2021 – Biennial Street Art Festival. Peeta brought a refurbished aesthetic appeal to the walls of the Economics building in via Ugo Bassi, as his illusory talents brought volume to the building’s surface, creating a mural that arouses a three-dimension effect.

Peeta’s work brings geometric interaction of shapes to his compositions that surround its environment by altering the perception of spaces that bring forth a temporary “suspension of normality.”

The official presentation

Unipd’s Street Art Collection was first shown on October 4, 2022, as reusable shopping bags were gifted to newly enrolled University students at the 2022 Unincontro event. Later that evening, students showed their enthusiasm on Instagram when the Street Art Collection t-shirt was showcased for the first time at The Academy Night that brought the music of Nuclear Tactical Penguins, Madame, Rovere, Fantahouse, cmqmartina and YTAM to Padua.
