The new 800th Anniversary of the University of Padua celebratory stamp, as part of the Italian Excellence in Knowledge stamp collection series, was presented at Palazzo Bo on February 2, 2022. The University of Padua Rector Daniela Mapelli and the Delegate for Communication and Scientific Dissemination Telmo Pievani, welcomed the Philatelic Commercial Coordinator of Poste Italiane Claudio Vescovi, Giulio Iandiorio who is in charge for the Nord Est of Italy (Poste Italiane), and the Director of the Padua Poste Italiane branch Francesca Mauro to the ceremony.
A stamp marked with a date of issue cancellation was sent to the Historical Museum of Communication in Rome.
The University of Padua Anatomical Theater was inaugurated in 1595 and is the worlds’ oldest preserved anatomical theatre. With three hundred thousand printed copies of the stamp bearing an image of the Paduan theatre, the stamp also includes the words UNIVERSITÀ DI STUDI DI PADOVA, DAL 1222, ITALIA, and B (a tariff indicator). The Philatelic Center of the Operational Direction of the Polygraphic Institute and the Italian State Mint edited the image.
In addition to the stamp, the thematic series is available; it includes the postcard and folder designed by the Communication Office of the University of Padua, the “Bulletin”, with an article signed by rector Daniela Mapelli, and the philatelic card.
