The final stage of the 800 UniPD Wikipedia Edit-a-thon takes place on Wednesday, October 12. What began in September of 2021 and continued into 2022, Wiki 800 UniPD, brings a voice to the history of the University of Padua in celebration of its 800th Anniversary
The Wikipedia editing marathon (edit-a-thon) is open to all interested in adding content to the world’s largest and most-read online encyclopaedia. Contribute alongside experts by implementing, modifying, and deepening the voice of the protagonists who, for 800 years, contributed to the history of the University of Padua. Take part by sharing the stories of students, professors, and scholars from across Italy and the world who have marked the University with their existence from the Middle Ages to today.
Participants should bring a fully charged personal laptop that is equipped with an independent internet connection; it is possible to participate remotely. Tablets and smartphones are not permitted.
Promoted by the University of Padua Department of Historical, Geographical and Antiquity Sciences (DiSSGeA) the Wiki 800 UniPD initiative is thanks to the collaboration of Wikimedia Italia, the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Pedagogy, and Applied Psychology (FISSPA), the Digital Learning and Multimedia Office, and the Municipality of Padua as part of the Galileo Festival of Science and Innovation.
The free online course “A scuola di Wikipedia. Contribuire all’enciclopedia libera, created in collaboration with UniPD, is available for those interested in improving their writing skills on the Wikipedia platform.
