As part of the schedule of celebratory events for its 800th Anniversary, the University of Padua and its Department of Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular Sciences and Public Health present an evening dedicated to the life of Andreas Vesalius with ‘The Fabrica of the Body. Vesalius and Anatomy for Treatment’ by TOP – Teatri Off Padova, at Teatro Verdi in Padua on November 22.
‘The Fabrica of the Body. Vesalius and Anatomy for Treatment’ (La Fabrica dei corpi. Vesalio e l’Anatomia per la Cura), by Ernesto Milanesi with Loris Contarini and Gianni Bozza directed by Loris Contarini and Erica Taffara, is a theatrical performance by dedicated to the life of the University of Padua scholar and “Father of Modern Anatomy” Andreas Vesalius.
The performance, produced by Department of Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular Sciences and Public Health, places the University of Padua as an epicentre for free thought in the research and study of medicine – which has made the University and Vesalius famous all over the world.
As a homage to our modernity, the stage depicts the story of the great anatomist in Padua with high-definition screens that allow the audience to see objects Vesalius used while holding a lecture in Palazzo Bo.
