Organized by the University of Padua Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, the book launch event of La pediatria a Padova, una storia secolare was edited by Franco Zacchello, Giorgio Perilongo, Giovanni Silvano, and published by Editori Laterza.
The book offers results from interdisciplinary research that narrates the history of Paediatrics in Padua. Each page offers a vivid testimony of the path that led the paediatrics of yesterday to today, leading each step of this discipline along a solid context line within its own right of knowledge and skill. The book provides a modern perspective with specific information expressed through the autonomous academic care of an institution that is inserted into a rich network of relationships. The book offers an ideal context for promoting cutting-edge assistance, training and research.
The book launch begins with a musical performance by I Polli(ci)ni, an orchestra of young musicians from the Pollini Conservatory of Padua, followed by a formal welcoming and greetings.
Professor of Modern History at the University of Florence and former Commissioner of the Italian Historical Institute for the Modern and Contemporary Age (Rome) Marcello Verga presents the book and is joined by the President of the Italian Society of Paediatrics and University of Naples Federico II Department of Paediatrics Professor Annamaria Staiano.
The book launch presentation concludes with a discussion by authors and experts.
