As part of the celebratory events for the 800th anniversary of the University of Padua, the book Libertas. Between religion, politics and knowledge is presented to the public on 21 December at Palazzo Bo. Published in 2022 as Libertas. Tra religione, politica e saperi (Donzelli – Padova University Press, 2022), the book is part of the Patavina libertas – A European history of the University of Padua book series, which contains works based on archival research conducted by young historians of the University of Padua. Each volume reinterprets the path the University has taken through key moments in European history by retracing all aspects of freedom and its role in the development of humanistic and scientific knowledge.

Questo book, edited by Andrea Caracausi, Paola Molino e Dennj Solera, aims to reconstruct the University’s long history by highlighting it as an educational body, a space, and practices to the conflicts that have marked its long evolution.

Opening speech by Monica Salvadori, pro-rector for the artistic, historic and cultural heritage at Unipd. Speakers: Mario Infelise and Elena Bacchin (Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia). Moderator: Gianluigi Baldo, director of the Department of Historical and Geographic Sciences and the Ancient World – University of Padua.

Registration is required to participate.

The event is also broadcasted live on YouTube.
