As part of the “Free Your Future. Padua in the World” conference series, this event, held at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York welcomes the University of Padua professor of Philosophy of Biological Sciences Telmo Pievani and architect Alessandro Melis, whose work is based on sustainability and the design of resilient communities.

Telmo Pievani will illustrate the phenomenon of “serendipity“, by sharing with the public how the unexpected and that which cannot be foreseen are often proven to be decisive for scientific progress. Pievani takes this opportunity to share excerpts from his latest book L’inatteso nella scienza (The Unexpected in Science) published in 2021 by Cortina.

The Free Your Future – Padua in the World conference series, organized in Italian Cultural Institutes, Embassies and Consulates of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, welcomes University of Padua professors to share the story of the University’s history by intertwining it with prospects and challenges for the future.
