Organized by the Department of Medicine as part of the scientific schedule of events that celebrate the 800th Anniversary of the University of Padua, the Music Meets Medicine – Rhythm, Sound and Health conference is held from November 23 to 25 and is open to the public.

Taking place on Thursday 24 November at 9 pm in the Sala dei Giganti the first concert welcomes the Big Band jazz orchestra of the Concentus Musicus Patavinus. Comprised of university students, alumni, teachers, and staff the ensemble offers a varied repertoire of original arrangements written by contemporary composers and a selection of pieces by well know composers Charles Mingus, Duke Ellington, and Frank Zappa.

On the evening of Friday 25 November, Padua’s Teatro Verdi Theater hosts a performance by the Orchestra Asclepio – Medici per la Musica.  Comprised of students, teachers, and collaborators from institutions operating in the health field, the orchestral and chamber ensemble promotes the art and culture of music as a tool for health and well-being.
The evening is a charity event in favour of Doctors with Africa CUAMM.  — Sold out
The evening also includes a performance from the students of Scuola Spaziodanza Padova as they dance to Beethoven’s Symphony no.7. Choreographed by Laura Pulin and Rosa Fondacaro, the young and talented dancers release their energy and passion as they interpret Beethoven’s lively and pressing music with joy and rhythm. Dance, music, and beauty meet and intertwine to give life to emotions and suggestions.
