As part of the 800th Anniversary of the University of Padua Celebrations, Teatro dell’Orsa stages a theatrical show for audiences of all ages dedicated to the memory of Judge Giovanni Falcone, assassinated 30 years ago in the Capaci bombing.

Assassinated by the Italian Mafia, the theatrical performance tells the story of the man and the life of Giovanni Falcone. The narrative gives life to the voice and words spoken by Falcone as witnessed by those closest to him: his sense of duty, his victories, and his defeats.

Intending to drag his name through the mud, suspicions surrounding Falcone aimed at discrediting his unwavering determination, courage, and relentless actions.  The Capaci bombing may have snuffed out his life but not his ideas. Judge Falcone did not only dedicate his life to overthrowing the Mafia, but he was also a man who firmly believed in the values of democracy and lawfulness.

The performance includes portions of Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana on piano and parts of Astor Piazzolla’s work, not only to remember the past but an opportunity to stare the present in the eye.

Participation is available by invitation only to local schoolchildren.
