In its eight centuries of history, the University of Padua has always been a place for discussion, exchange, and reflection. As a place open to the contribution of scholars from all over the world who circulated ideas and thought, renewing such a mission with the Lessons about Europe series of conversations hosted on Sundays at Padua’s Teato Verdi. Each meeting offers a highly topical theme on how the future of the European continent is being written.

The first meeting, Europe and Equal Opportunity, welcomes Linda Laura Sabbadini and Gaya Spolverato on Sunday, November 20. Sabbadini is a European pioneer of statistics for gender studies and Director of social and environmental statistics of the Italian National Statistical Institute.  Spolverato is a surgical oncologist and a professor at the Department of Surgical, Oncological, and Gastroenterological Sciences of the University of Padua and 2015 co-founder of Women in Surgery Italia (Italian association of surgeons) and Delegate for Equal Opportunities Policies at the University of Padua.

European Lessons is a series of meetings organized in celebration of the 800th anniversary of the University of Padua presented for the public to enjoy in dialogue with university educators. The series is organized in collaboration with the Teatro Stabile del Veneto – National Theater.
