On May 11, the Aula Magna of Palazzo Bo hosts former Italian Prime Minister and former President of the European Commission Romano Prodi to the Europe in a World Full of Tension conference.
We need a united, strong, and authoritative Europe today more than ever. We have achieved much in terms of economic progress, including passing The Next Generation EU (NGEU) fund, the largest economic package since 1945, which supports European countries with a recovery plan due to the pandemic.
These days, as a mad and inconceivable war anguishes us, Europe has collectively expressed a common strategy while a common foreign, defense, and energy policy remains unresolved. Europe must show its strength, authority, and ability to defend its founding principles: solidarity, peace, democracy, equality.
The conference is part of the third edition of the Spring School in International Politics & Security, organized by the Department of Political, Legal, and International Studies, under the scientific coordination of Valentine Lomellini.
A roundtable on the same subject follows the next day on May 12 (9.30 am), welcoming the Vice-Rectors for International Relations of various Italian universities to discuss “How did Universities deal with different crises? 2021-2022 between Covid post-emergency, the Afghan and the Ukrainian Scenarios”.
The meeting is also streamed.
