The short film entitled Storia di un’eccellenza is presented and screened on Tuesday, May 10 at the Botanical Gardens in celebration of the 800th Anniversary of the University of Padua. The film shares a scientific perspective on the surgical history of Padua that covers Vesalius to today in relation the field of activity of the Department of Surgery, Oncology, and Gastroenterology Sciences.
The short film Storia di un’eccellenza is presented and screened on Tuesday, May 10, at the Botanical Gardens as part of the University of Padua 800th Anniversary celebrations. The film shares a scientific perspective on the history of surgery in Padua that covers Vesalius to today concerning the field of activity of the Department of Surgery, Oncology, and Gastroenterology Sciences.
It incorporates archived video-photographic materials and video footage (including drone footage) tracing the history of surgery in Padua from the 16th century to today. Key figures such as Andreas Vesalius, Gabriele Falloppio, Girolamo Fabrici D’Acquapendente, and Giovanni Battista Morgagni are featured to highlight the fundamental advances in the fields of medicine and surgery.
