Who is Tullio Levi-Civita? Not only a great professor, Italian Mathematician and husband to Libera Trevisani, but also someone who inspires and brings wonder to the protagonist of the lasted children’s book from the Storie Libere book series. Edmea is a young girl captivated by Levi-Civita, a man whose brilliance finds mathematical errors in Einstein’s use of tensor calculus to explain the theory of relativity. Between mathematics and physics, the twentieth century is rich with innovations in the complex fields of science and knowledge in a time of racial laws and world conflicts.

Un sogno alla velocità della luce (A Dream at the Speed of Light), available in Italian, explores this historical significance as part of the latest book released in the Storie Libere book series published by the University of Padua and Carthusia Edizioni, in celebration of the University’s 800th Anniversary.

The December 2 book launch welcomes Prof Annalisa Oboe (Director of the Elena Cornaro Center and Storie Libere Project Editor), Prof Telmo Pievani (Storie Libere Project Editor), Prof Franco Cardin (Tullio Levi-Civita Department of Mathematics), Prof Giulia Simone (Department of Political, Legal and International Studies), Patrizia Zerbi (Carthusia Edizioni Editorial Director), Emanuela Nava (author), and Marta Pantaleo (illustrator)
Book launch event held on the Zoom platform.
