On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, as part of the schedule celebrating the 800th anniversary of the University of Padua, the University and the Foundation for Advanced Biomedical Research – V.I.M.M. promote the 5th edition of the Women in Science event.
The 11th of February is a day that celebrates the women and girls who promote knowledge and innovation. This day is marked as a call to action for people across the globe to remove barriers that hinder personal and social fulfilment, a moment to foster change and bring forth awareness and understanding of the role and importance of female figures in the world of science.
Moderated by the journalist and editor-in-chief of Il Bo Live Elisabetta Tola, the event begins with institutional greetings by the University of Padua Rector Daniela Mapelli and a statement by the President of the Foundation for Advanced Biomedical Research – VIMM Francesco Pagano. Followed by a roundtable of guests from the innovation and scientific community to share their experiences and thoughts on women and girls in science: Elvina Finzi, Giada Caudullo, Cecilia Laterza, Tiziana Romeo, Alessandra Rampazzo, and Gaia Grosso. Elvina Finzi is the Senior Director at EssilorLuxottica, an Independent Director at Cerved Group and Senior Director of Group Market Strategy. Giada Caudullo is the Vice President of Solgar Italia Multinutrient S.p.A. Cecilia Laterza is a researcher at VIMM and a research fellow at the UniPD Department of Industrial Engineering. Tiziana Romeo is Head of Technology R&D and Vice President of Dompé Farmaceutici SpA. Alessandra Rampazzo is a professor of Applied Biology at the University of Padua, and Gaia Grosso is a PhD student at the European Organization for Nuclear Research – CERN.
