Energy Citizenship
Organized by the Lanza Foundation, the Orienting Oneself in the Transition project offers reflections and discussions on ethics in scientific research and the life of the civil community. The Lanza Foundation initiative celebrates the 800th anniversary of the University of Padua and is part of the LiberaMente series of events organized around themes based on the University’s motto: Universa Universis Patavina Libertas.
On 22 February March, Project Coordinator Matteo Mascia of the Lanza Foundation’s Progetto Etica e Politiche Ambientali introduces the first meeting of “The Ethics of Energy in the Anthropocene” study seminar. Arturo Lorenzoni (University of Padua’s Department of Industrial Engineering) and the President of the Cooperativa energetica ènostra Sara Capuzzo will discuss Per una nuova cittadinanza energetica: il caso delle Comunità Energetiche Rinnovabili e Solidali, followed with talks and a debate with University of Padua PhD students.
Through stimulating discussions, seminars, and cultural events the Orienting Oneself in the Transition project aims to improve our understanding and the practice of ethics at the theoretical level and in particularly decisive areas such as the sciences that deal with the earth and those of human life. Lanza Foundation research projects are based on Ethics, Philosophy and Theology, Ethics and Medicine, and Ethics and Environmental Policies
